Jensen Beach’s 60s- and 70s-themed Circa69 reopens, continuing its celebration of nostalgia and creativity but now led by a brand new celebrity chef
When Circa69 opened three years ago, it was like this happy piece of nostalgia splattered across the Jensen Beach waterfront. The entire concept—from name to decor—was a throwback to the late Sixties and Seventies, with large, colorful murals of classic rockers like Jimi Hendrix and landmark events like the moon landing and Woodstock. Images of hippies strolling through Haight-Ashbury and VW buses cruising along Route 66 immediately evoked pleasant memories of “the good old days” for many local diners and imbibers who entered for the first time to check out the campy new addition to the area.
Late last year, the 1960s wormhole suddenly closed its doors, leaving patrons stuck here in the present day. But now they’re back, once again ready to spread peace, love, and great food and cocktails to the community. The restaurant reopened on January 17, under the leadership of a new chef: Paul Niedermann. Niedermann became a household name (at least in foodie households), after he won season 9 of Hell’s Kitchen back in 2012. Since then, the Davie native has led the kitchens of popular local restaurants including The Jupiter Grill and The Buccaneer before landing at Circa69.
At Circa69, Chef Niedermann aims to blend elevated technique and casual comfort. Point in case: the Shake & Bake Pork Chops, served with charred haricot verts, potato pave, and apple mustard, and the Coca-Cola–braised wagyu brisket that serves as the centerpiece of the delicious Sunday Roast for Two.
Creative pizzas pay tribute to classic rock—like the Blue Zeppelin (mozzarella, blackened tenderloin, pickled red onion, and blue cheese) and the California Dreaming (mozzarella, Roma tomato, arugula, applewood smoked bacon, and avocado).
Circa69 is all about bringing people together, offering an assortment of small, shareable tapas like crispy mahi batons, pecan-crusted cheeseballs, and lamp lollipops. Roll up with your crew and enjoy a few plates with a cocktail or two for happy hour (daily, Tuesday through Saturday) and feel the love.
