Food Network Fame in PBC: Part 2
Guy Fieri’s “Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives” recently filmed at 6 Palm Beach County restaurants. Three of those episodes, which we covered in part 1 of this blog post, will be airing soon. Here’s a look at 3 other local restaurants that were recently featured on the show.
For years, chef and TV personality Guy Fieri has been road-tripping across the country in search of the best “classic greasy spoons,” featuring his finds on his hit show “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives” (known as “Triple D” among fans). Recently, the spiky-haired personality visited our area with his son, Hunter, stopping by six restaurants in PBC. To be clear, the show’s title is a bit of a misnomer, as many of the places Fieri visits are far from “greasy spoons.” The chef seeks out unique restaurants that make their own ingredients in-house or have some other distinguishing trait. Here are three more local restaurants that made the cut on the show:
DRIFTWOOD | Boynton Beach
For nearly 10 years, Driftwood has been popular among locals for its fresh, local fare, craft cocktails, and welcoming atmosphere. The dinner menu includes delicious, locally sourced entrees like the poached Florida lobster (sourced in Boca Raton), golden tilefish (from Cape Canaveral), and jerk swordfish (from Fort Lauderdale) served with Swiss chard from Kai-Kai Farms in Indiantown. Wash it down with one of their tasty craft beers or specialty cocktails—like the Mad Botanist (strawberry-infused gin, housemade tonic, and lime).
What Fieri sampled: smoked pork jowl fried rice, crispy chicken oysters with fried potatoes. Episode aired May 8.
NEVS BARBECUE | Palm Beach Gardens
Tommy Nevill brought his scratch-made Texas BBQ to Palm Beach Gardens in 2021, making everything from sides to sauces to pickles from scratch. Indulge in brisket, baby back ribs, smoked turkey, and pulled pork, plus a variety of hearty sides. Nevill’s signature sauces (which are sold on site) include Original, Carolina, and Texas Hot.
What Fieri sampled: brisket burnt-end sloppy joes, Nevs chili. Episode aired April 24.
ALAINA’S CAFE & BAKE SHOPPE | Palm Beach Gardens
Since 2012, Alaina’s Cafe has been a haven for locals seeking a comfortable place for a good snack. They started out serving just soups, sandwiches, and cupcakes a few hours a day. But when chef/owner Daniel Vallone took over in 2023, they expanded their hours and their menu. More a bistro than a cafe nowadays, Alaina’s offers a full breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu, plus wine and cocktails. Everything—including their breads and sauces—is made from scratch.
What Fieri sampled: roast beef sandwich on house-baked onion focaccia, rigatoni Bolognese. Episode aired April 10.
